Culinary Travel
Eating in the locals' restaurants, no matter where we are in the world, is important to us. We love the connections you can make to a culture and a person through a memorable meal. From popping bottles in a Champagne cave to foraging through the countryside with an award-winning chef and then cooking alongside them, there are so many ways to get the full "foodie travel" experience while traveling. With specific hotels, cruise lines, tour operators, on-site tour connections, and destinations, you can take culinary travel way beyond the dinner table.

Slovenia
Somehow this small European country combines all the best ingredients of its neighbors Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia and serves them up in the most delightful way.
Mountains, beaches, wine, an incredible foodie scene, lakes, history, culture and a theme of mine it seems, warm and friendly people. Less tourism than any of its neighbors means better value and less crowds at any time of year.New Zealand
Although I still haven't visited the North Island and Auckland, the capital city, my 2 weeks on the South Island will forever be one of my favorite trips ever.
From the stunning Milford Sound in the south west, to the adventure capital of the world, Queenstown, to the wine region to Lake Wanaka and then the whole wild, west coast where you will barely encounter anyone even in peak season, New Zealand will assault your senses with its natural beauty and the people will only add to the enchantment.
Laos
Dramatic scenery, the calmest, happiest people you could meet, and an Asian/French food scene that is absolutely sublime.
Imagine freshly baked French croissants and pastries in the mornings and then fragrant curries for dinner. Buddhist chants drift through the hills and I found peace here like nowhere else I have encountered.
Namibia
I thought I had taken a rocket ship instead of an airplane, as arrival in Namibia feels like you have landed on another planet. The dramatic landscapes continue from the interior all the way to the coastline where endless giant sand dunes meet the ocean. Yet, the wildlife here is also abundant and searching for elephants and lions is actually not too difficult as you are tracking green, verdant areas, usually along river valleys.
Thailand
Yes, it's right next door to Laos, which clearly confirms that I am a huge fan of SE Asia. However, I love Thailand for different reasons.
Here you have variety. A 2-week trip can include the incredibly vibrant capital city, Bangkok, which has the best street food scene on the planet (so good that there are some street stalls with Michelin stars). Head north to the mountains of Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai, where the food gets spicier and the rice terraces are beautiful. Finally you have to make the very difficult choice of where to head for an amazing beach experience. Perhaps Phuket or Koh Samui for islands that are fairly lively, or try Koh Phangan, which despite hosting the country's biggest beach party also has several secluded and calm hideaways.
