Looking Ahead to the

Return of Cruising

March 5, 2021

Courtesy of J5Travel's sister company World Cruise Advisors and our very own cruise specialist Kanise, I thought it was about time I mentioned cruises again. Despite a full year without big ships sailing and with the pause extended into the early Summer months now for many lines and itineraries, you could easily think the cruise industry was in dire straits.
But just as our land bookings have rebounded fairly dramatically in the last 6 weeks, cruises too are seeing heavy demand for 2022 and beyond. Oceania even sold out their 2023 World cruise in just one day (though we may be able to find you a cabin!). With the demographic for cruising slightly older than other travel segments, we think this is a factor of vaccinations providing future confidence.
It is likely, though not announced yet by many lines, that a vaccination passport will be needed in order to board a ship in the future. In fact this could easily become the norm for all travel if the international powers that be coordinate sufficiently.

We will keep you informed.

There is exciting news in the world cruise industry. As of last week there are now 7 itineraries for world cruises set to sail in 2023 and Cunard are about to add another 2 to that list later this month. If seeing the world while sailing in luxury is on your bucket list then these are the cruises for you. The demand for world cruising is amazingly at an all time high so now is the time to plan your trip.

5. AmaWaterways (above and below)
Yes, our favorite river cruise line is planning a "world cruise"...well, sort of. It's so exciting to us and innovative that we've included it today.
This "river world cruise" will journey to 14 countries and navigate 7 rivers over 45 days, launching in June 2023. On different Ama vessels you will be able to sail on the Seine, Rhone, Saone, Rhine, Moselle, Main and Danube all on one perfectly coordinated itinerary. Ama's intuition is telling them that bucket-list trips in a post Covid world are going to be incredibly popular and we are already noticing evidence of that.
