With the entire J5 team in Amsterdam for a few days last week, time is a little limited as we enjoyed the sights but also focus on team building and learning. 5 of us have now started our journey on the AmaMora, a river cruise ship, for a 5-day Symposium focussed on Luxury Travel.
For this week article though, I am going back just under 2 weeks to a fantastic weekend I enjoyed in Las Vegas. What I learned from it is that Vegas, more than any other destination on earth, can be what you want it to be. For myself and Helen this means no casinos, great dining, a top show, and an outdoor activity. You may want the complete opposite of that and it's of course totally possible and just as enjoyable for someone with different goals.
I do though urge readers to consider us for your Vegas breaks. We all know how expensive a Vegas breakfast can be, but we have access to several hotels (below) where breakfast is added complimentary thanks to our affiliations, and there are good chances of upgrades plus a resort credit.
Top 5 - Your Vegas Weekend
1. Your Stay
There are currently 8 x 5-star properties in Las Vegas where our Virtuoso amenities will apply:
Crockfords Las Vegas - Prestige at the Palazzo (above) - Aria Sky Suites - Bellagio - SkyLofts at MGM Grand - The Cosmopolitan - Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas and Wynn & Encore Las Vegas (below).
Just one example of the property amenities we can offer, these are for the Prestige at the Palazzo:
- Upgrade at time of booking, subject to Prestige availability
- Daily buffet breakfast for up to two guests served at Prestige Club Lounge at The Palazzo
- Complimentary Prestige Lounge access for up to two guests daily
- VIP Private check-in on the 23rd floor
- Early Check-In / Late Check-Out, subject to availability
2. Your Concert (above and below)
Headliners abound in Vegas these days. We were lucky enough to catch U2 at Sphere just before their residency ended. Aside from my familiarity with and love of their music, I have to say the hype is very real regarding the venue. If your favorite performer announces dates here, then get a ticket, it will totally change your perception of what is possible inside a building.
3. Your Show
I do discern a concert from a show and again in Vegas you are thoroughly spoiled for choice.
From magic, both close-up and grand scale, comedians, ventriloquists, burlesque, risque, circus and many more, if shows are your thing you can stay for a month and not see everything.
Current audience favorites are: Absinthe (above) - Banechek's Mind Games Live - Shin Lim Limitless (below) - Mac King and Magic Mike Live
4. Your Dining (above and below)
The endless parade of Celebrity Chefs alongside some really, really good chefs is so fascinating to see in Vegas. It has a rightful claim to be a foodie capital of the world, and I have no idea how these often giant kitchens produce such high quality fare night after night.
Highlight for myself and Helen this time around was HaSalon by Eyal Shani in the Palazzo.
Check out below the fig carpaccio with honeycomb and goats cheese (below left) and to quote the menu exactly "The best hummus plate you will ever eat, topped with lamb ragu" (below right).
5. Your Activity (above and below)
It could be golf, gambling, just walking The Strip, shopping (OMG the shopping), sporting events or dozens of other options. Helen and I chose the Red Rock Canyon e-Bike tour.
23 miles at a comfortable and not too strenuous pace, views to die for and the feeling that Vegas is thousands of miles away, not a 15 minute Uber ride. That's our Vegas.
