While trying to organize a group cruise for my friends, I struggled with picking the best cruise line for us. Some of them wanted the ship with the most parties while some wanted to relax a bit more. Some wanted the biggest ship and some didn't care as long as it went to certain ports. Some want to bring their kids while others don't want to see any kids on the ship. It got me thinking about the whole cruising scene and the different types of people who enjoy it. I found myself categorizing everyone into different types of cruisers. The beauty of cruising is that there is a cruise for everyone no matter their preferences.
While the categories could be infinite, this week I share the main five types of cruisers and my top cruise line picks for each.

Top 5 - 5 Types of Cruisers
1. Party Cruisers (above and below)
Virgin voyages is my favorite cruise line to have a good time. If you couldn’t tell by their marketing they are the cruise line that puts fun and adventure at the forefront of the experience.Their cruises are designed to foster a vibrant, social atmosphere from dining at Gunbae to their private beach club at Bimini and poolside pajama parties. Catering exclusively to adults, Virgin Voyages introduces a more daring and provocative entertainment lineup, adding an extra layer of excitement to the overall experience.
2. Family Cruisers (above and below)
Family cruisers are unique in that they need a cruise line that accommodates all ages from the young to the old. Royal Caribbean stands as the premier choice for families seeking a cruise experience that caters to all ages. The cruise line offers a diverse array of entertainment, from Broadway-style shows to thrilling adventures like rock climbing and zip-lining. With award-winning kids' programs and family-friendly dining options, every member of the family is in for a treat. Spacious staterooms, onboard water parks, adult only areas and tailored kids and teen programs add to the allure. Royal Caribbean's commitment to a family-friendly experience extends to shore excursions ensuring that the adventure continues on land. And this is especially true when visiting their private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay. When you sail on a Royal Caribbean cruise each moment is crafted to create lasting family memories at sea.
3. Adventure and Thrill Seekers (above and below)
Adventure/thrill cruisers love interacting with culture and experiencing new adventures.Unlike traditional cruises, adventure cruises immerse travelers in the heart of untouched landscapes and remote destinations.Sailing with Aqua Expeditions is an invitation to experience luxury, adventure, and unparalleled service on the water. What truly sets Aqua Expeditions apart is their dedication to curated itineraries that explore some of the world's most remote and fascinating destinations, including the Amazon River and Southeast Asia's waterways. These itineraries include exciting excursions such as swimming with whale sharks in Indonesia and sharing a meal with local Peruvian villagers. Embarking on an adventure cruise promises a journey beyond the ordinary.
4. Relaxation Cruisers (above and below)
Relaxation cruisers prioritize tranquility, serenity, and rejuvenation over everything else when cruising. Relaxation cruising is centered around providing guests with an opportunity to unwind and escape the stresses of everyday life. While it isn't advertised as a relaxation cruise, Explora Journeys is my top pick. Their luxurious spa facilities include a hydrotherapy pool, salt room, heated marble loungers and sensory showers. They have amazing indoor hot tubs and a solarium that you could fall asleep in. Some of their wellness offers include sound bowl meditation, yoga and rejuvenating treatments. On Explora Journeys a relaxation cruiser can disconnect, recharge, and appreciate the scenic beauty of the journey.
5. River Cruisers (above and below)
While a river cruiser is similar to relaxation cruiser, they are not quite the same. River cruisers aren't on a cruise for the spa, they are there for the destinations. River cruisers like to sail in such manner that is slow and unhurried while delving deep into the cities and regions they visit. Amawaterways remains my top pick for river cruising. When on a Amawaterways river cruise the experience is a more intimate, culturally rich, and allows leisurely exploration of beautiful landscapes and historic sites. When on a river cruise, one doesn't go to observe another culture they become a part of it. Every stop is an opportunity to get lost in the way of life of the town. While Amawaterways has beautifully designed boats, it is less about adding extravagant features and more about creating a comfortable home away from home.
