Top 5 Worldwide Hotels and Resorts

They are so GOOD I made a video for them

January 8, 2021

Back in August of the year that cannot be named, I was really getting in to my creative phase and produced several videos simply featuring some of my personal favorite hotels and resorts worldwide. Well I thought this week I'd showcase them here rather than with my regular photo images. It's a sort of experiment as well to see if readers actually would prefer some regular video content.
Anyway, in a week that may have a lot of us feeling rather lost and dumbfounded, I just want to help your mind wander elsewhere and this Top 5 list should really help the dreaming continue.

As a side note though, all 5 are currently possible to travel to!
Personally my next week will be spent in Costa Rica so be ready for the first trip report of 2021.

Top 5 - Worldwide Hotels and Resorts

1. The Brando, Tetiaroa, French Polynesia

There's paradise, and then there's paradise!

Marlon Brando first came to Tetiaroa while filming Mutiny on the Bounty and was immediately enchanted by the island’s rare beauty and the sense it gave him of being closer to paradise. Enthralled by the Polynesian way of life – and his leading lady Tarita, the love of his life – he resolved to find a way to own this piece of paradise and succeeded in his goal in 1967. It was in this natural wonderland that he settled down, and finally found a home.

In 1999 he asked Richard Bailey, a long-time resident of Tahiti who shared Brando’s passion for the environment and who had created some of the region’s finest resorts, to help him conceive a plan that would help Brando achieve his dream. Together, Brando and Bailey pursued a vision of creating the world’s first and foremost post-carbon resort—an island where innovative new technologies would enable a self-sustaining luxury environment for hotel guests, residents and scientific research. The Brando is the legacy of that shared vision.

I have met twice now with The Brando's Business Development Manager, Tekura Kelley, and I know our clients traveling to this resort will be treated like royalty.
The amazing all-inclusive package here includes:

  • All meals.
  • Beverages including wines & spirits.
  • One activity per person per day- from bicycling, snorkeling and bird watching to diving and paddle boarding.
  • One spa service per villa per day

2. Club Med Miches, Playa Esmerelda, Dominican Republic
Possibly the best family-focused All-Inclusive resort in the world, Club Med's 5-star luxury resort opened last year. Yes, in the middle of all that. It's a new hidden gem of the Dominican Republic made unique by its untouched beauty and location. A star of Club Med's Exclusive Collection, this eco-chic and environmentally friendly all-inclusive resort, the first of its kind, is designed with four distinct boutique-villages providing for a one-of-a-kind getaway with exclusive services. Enjoy the exhilarating activities on offer in this pristine natural setting, where long immaculate beaches are dotted with luxurious palm groves. Local excursions, such as a whale watching tour in Samaná Bay, are perfect for the entire family. I viewed the site before opening and it really is something special.

3. One & Only Mandarina, Mexico
Another resort to only have recently opened, One & Only Mandarina is a gorgeous new property just 30 minutes from Puerto Vallarta Airport. A hidden retreat in Riviera Nayarit, with palm-fringed sands, swimmable shores and an energetic environment crafted for reconnection, One & Only Mandarina invites you to feel effortlessly glamorous at this rare haven in nature.

4. Montage Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina
All of these videos were inspired by virtual meetings I enjoyed with General Managers or Sales Directors of their respective properties. They all kindly agreed to share their best property videos with J5Travel, for us to perhaps inspire you for the future. This was the first video I crafted, starting off fairly locally to my home city of Charlotte. Montage Palmetto Bluff at Bluffton, South Carolina, is a resort simply perfect for a socially distant short break or even a long stay where the whole family can remotely work, learn and play. Enjoy the video, it will explain everything.

5. St Regis Bora Bora
Following on from The Brando in French Polynesia, we visit a slightly larger but nonetheless similarly stunning resort in nearby Bora Bora.
Here you can stay in the largest overwater villas in the whole of the South Pacific, starting at 1,550 square feet, and revel in the turquoise blue waters visible from the glass panels. For ultimate privacy, reserve a secluded beach villa surrounded by palms trees. No request will be too small or unattainable for the St Regis Butlers. This resort offers an awe-inspiring backdrop for destination weddings, honeymoons and company retreats.
