This week we held our 6-monthly full team strategy meeting and it brought home to me strongly that J5Travel is now a legitimate and important company in the luxury travel space. As I wandered back from a bathroom break, I stopped for a second to look through the glass panel to see 6 team members all in discussion on how to improve a certain process. Everyone was engaged, and I simply felt proud, both of what I have achieved as a business owner and that the team I have around me now is so darn good. Coming soon? We have another addition to the team joining us next month.
One decision we did make is to talk about cruises more through this channel of the blog. Cruise sales represent almost 25% of our sales, and so it's only appropriate that they are featured once a month. Starting next week you will hear from our cruise team of Kanise and Morgan on a more regular basis.
On the subject of coming soon, I feature new hotels on the blog about twice a year and currently at the luxury end of the market there is a veritable feast of new accommodations on their way.
Here is this weeks Top 5 featuring new or upcoming luxury properties.
Top 5 - Hotels Coming Soon!
1. The Emory - London (above and below)
While London has no shortage of glamorous hotels, none are quite like the Emory – one of the most anticipated hotel openings of the year (hopefully this Fall). From the sail-like architectural details that soar over the treetops of Hyde Park to the fact that each floor features aesthetics from different designers, everything about the Emory stands apart. The Emory will present 60 extraordinary suites and a spectacular penthouse.
Located where the dynamic energy of fashionable Knightsbridge meets the genteel streets of residential Belgravia, a stay at The Emory will afford the very best of life in the capital. The hotel’s discreet arrival off Old Barrack Yard will transport guests into a hidden world of understated luxury. The real showstopper though will be the rooftop terrace showcasing cuisine from world-famous chef Jean-George Vongerichten and open exclusively to hotel guests.
2. Raffles Boston (above and below)
Opening this summer, the legendary Raffles has a new home in Boston’s Back Bay, high above Copley Square. Inside, you’ll find a mix of lively social spaces and quiet sanctuaries, well-appointed guest rooms and residences, and of course, Raffles’ world-famous butler service. You’ll also find a state-of-the-art spa complete with a 20-meter-long lap pool, a fully-stocked library, and five distinct dining venues, including the two-story Sky Lobby restaurant and the just-as-wow-worthy rooftop bar.
3.One & Only Aesthesis - Glyfáda, Greece (above and below)
Ancient mythology and modern luxury come together at the soon to be opened One&Only Aesthesis. Tucked away on the glamorous Athenian Riviera (just a stone’s throw from Athens’ legendary landmarks), this mid-century-inspired oceanside resort features 127 rooms, suites, and villas, two signature restaurants serving sustainably sourced Greek mezes, seafood, and meat dishes, and curated experiences from sunset surfing lessons and guided hikes to dips in Lake Vouliagmeni’s thermal springs believed to heal the mind and body.
4. Bulgari Roma (above and below)
Located in Piazza Augusto Imperatore, the new Bulgari Hotel Roma, set to open 2 weeks from now, will be the ninth gem of the Bulgari Hotels & Resorts collection which comprises properties in Milan, London, Paris, Dubai, Beijing, Shanghai, Bali, and Tokyo. The hotel will count 114 rooms, most of them suites each offering a beautiful view either of the Piazza Augusto Imperatore, named after Emperor Augustus which hosts two of the most iconic monuments: the Mausoleum of Augustus, and the Ara Pacis, or of Via della Frezza, a typical Roman street with old fashion charm. The 3,250 sq ft Bulgari Suite is a quiet haven right in the heart of the historic center of Rome. The huge spa will be a harmonious retreat to balance the body, mind and spirit. It features 9 treatment rooms, a 25-metre pool and vitality pool made of shimmering mosaic tiles inspired by the patterns of the historic Terme di Caracalla Baths and Augustinus Bader’s wellness treatments.
5. COMO Le Montrachet - Burgundy, France (above and below)
30 years ago, the first COMO hotel opened in London – and in the decades that followed, the group has opened 14 further properties from Bali (COMO Shambhala Estate) to the Maldives (COMO Cocoa Island) and beyond. This year, the first COMO property in France has just opened in Burgundy–taking advantage of its location in Winelands, with access to the coveted Grand Cru vineyards. Heritage buildings are set up around a traditional place, and house 31 bedrooms, dining options and a spa. Thanks to a careful choice of materials, manufacturing techniques and finishes, the spaces and interiors of the multisite hotel are distinguished with custom-designed furnishings and a particular palette to echo the surrounding countryside.
